PLANOPTIK’s technologies make a decisive contribution to next-generation microsystems engineering. And they rely on a material that humanity created centuries ago: glass. Today, glass is one of the trendsetting materials in microsystems technology, as it stands for precision and exceptional properties. We use it to create products for integrating state-of-the-art chips and processors into the smallest of spaces, for high-performance sensors, and for new possibilities in modern medicine and pharmaceuticals – thanks to glass-based microfluidics.

Precise is not enough

Glass is our area of expertise. After all, our roots lie in optics. Today, we’re taking it a step further and polishing glass to surface dimensions in the sub-nanometer range. We imprint millions of functional microstructures onto glass and enhance it with materials such as silicon or copper. This allows us to create microcomponents and parts for products that have never existed before. State-of-the-art manufacturing processes based on wafers and panels enable high production volumes for our customers and partners in more than 40 countries.

Our customers are our partners. Together, we develop new products. We integrate our technologies into our customers’ products, thereby making a significant contribution to bringing new technologies to global markets. And it doesn’t stop there.
